Aldersgate United Methodist Church is constantly seeking to become an audicious Chrisitan community as we worship God, grow in Christ and serve in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our full time staff includes:

Director of Education, LuAnne Postel.
Pastor, Rev. David R Shogren, an ordained Elder has been appointed to Aldersgate since 2002.
Director of Music, Jennifer Shide, creates new music groups and develops talent.
Office Manager,Theresa Constable.
Director of Youth Ministry and Discipleship, Jeremy Poland, is a Master of Divinity.

Aldersgate, founded in 1959, continues to grow and expand. Campaign 3600 added an elevator making Aldersgate handicapped accessible. Improvements included a complete renovation of the sanctuary and classrooms, addtional restrooms, etc. Come tour our facilities any time.

Our current campus includes a Family Life Center / gymnasium with excellent showers and locker rooms. Mission and outreach groups visiting Central Iowa, as well as the Aldersgate congregation and community groups enjoy this large modern facility. Where is Aldersgate?

Located just a block south of Douglas Avenue, behind El Rodeo, at 3600 75th Street, Aldersgate offers easy access in a pleasant residential setting.

Where did the name "Aldersgate" come from?

At a small chapel on Aldersgate Street in London, John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, experienced a "warming" of his heart. His confidence in God grew stronger from that moment on as the world became his parish. Persons seeking a warm Christian fellowship with many opportunities for personal and spiritual growth and service to the community and world beyond the walls of the church will find Aldersgate a great place to call home.
