Children and Youth

Aldersgate United Methodist Church challenges individuals to grow deeper in their Christian walk. We offer a wide range of activities for children and youth to grow in their faith.

Sunday School - Is offered for all ages from preschool to adult. You are welcome to join at anytime through out the year.

Live B.I.G.

Live Your Belief in God

We will be using the curriculum “Live B.I.G. for the Preschool through 7^th Grade Sunday School.

What is Live B.I.G.?

*It’s children coming to know the love of God through Jesus.

*It’s music, art, theater, dance, laughter, imagination, sight, sound, games, crafts, snacks, bible stories, worship, prayer, and so much more.

*It’s growing as children of God by taking what we learn from Sunday School into our everyday lives.

Three B.I.G. Truths

Every Live B.I.G. lesson is based on three big truths:

*God is a great big God.

*God loves us with a great big love.

*We are a part of God’s great big world.

“Believe in God, believe also in me.”

Tuesday / Thursday Playgroup (18 months to pre-school)

Starting Tuesday September 6, 2011

What: A learning center environment including snacks, recreation,
                  Bible stories, crafts, activities, and music
       When:  Tuesdays and Thursday 9:00 - 11:30 am
       Costs & Registration details: $10 per child, per day. To sign up, contact the church

  Middle School / High School Youth (6th through 12th grade)
          Wednesdays 6:00-7:15 pm
Middle School / High School Youth also begin the night with a meal at 5:30 served in Fellowship Hall.  At 6:00, they break out into their grade level for curriculum, discussion, and relationship building.

Live Your Belief in God
An adventure for kindergarten through 5th grade where children hear, see, and live their belief in God.

Ten Keys

Can you name the 10 Commandments? After completing this series we trust your children will. When understood along with their New Testament amplifications, they are all that we need to know to live the moral life. Lessons make use of the Kingdom Chums Original Top Ten video and include 10 Commandment related games and crafts.

Acolytes
Children in 4th grade to adults are empowered to demonstrate that Jesus is the Light of the world by lighting the altar candles and assisting in worship services. Please contact Julie Applegate, 223-8377

Rehearsal times: 2 years olds and Pre-school 10:05 - 10:20 am
                         Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades 10:30 - 10:45 am
                        3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades 9:45 - 10:00 am

Contemporary Chrisitan Youth Music (Middle School and High School)
led by Dave Wells and various youth musicians
Time: Wednesdays at 6pm (Upper Room)

Chancel Choir (High School and Adult)
directed by Jennifer Shide
Rehearsal time: Wednesdays at 7:15 pm (Sanctuary)

Sunday Worship Music
Our children and youth often provide special music during worship by performing and sharing the songs they've learned during Sunday School or Wednesday nights.
